Mansfield police officer Jordan Moore resigned on Monday after an internal investigation found his performance to be unsatisfactory. The investigation was sparked by two internal complaints filed on May 19 and May 25, 2021, regarding Moore's handling of traffic crash reports. Moore was previously suspended in 2020 for dragging a handcuffed teenager and had been on paid administrative leave since a June 16 shooting incident.

On February 28 at 1:13 a.m., off-duty Mansfield police officer Brittney Pennywitt and Richland County Sheriff's Deputy Eric Wendling were involved in a physical confrontation in Mansfield. Pennywitt and Wendling, her boyfriend, were both charged with misdemeanor assault.

On February 7, 2021, Akron police officer John Turnure shoved snow into the face of Charles Hicks, a restrained suspect, three times, causing Hicks to gasp for air. Hicks was later charged with domestic violence/menacing and resisting arrest. Turnure resigned on March 31, 2021, while under investigation for use of force.
